Hotel History

HistoryFormerly known as the Villa Soleil, the building which now houses the Hotel du Cap started out life in 1870. It was originally used as a destination for writers seeking some inspiration but this was swiftly moved aside as other plans took hold. And so it was transformed into a hotel which became known throughout the Riviera and welcomed guests from all over Europe.

It was Antoine Sella who, 15 years later, spied the potential of the venue and so snapped it up and turned it into the Hotel du Cap. With its impressive Napoleon III structure, its swimming pool in the rocks and its cabins it appeared to be an ideal setting and destination on which to capitalise.

Over the subsequent years the hotel has welcomed guests from the world over including a plethora of famous names and faces. Among the prominent visitors are the likes of Michael Caine, Julie Andrews, Mick Jagger, Henry Kissinger and Steven Spielberg.
